Toward a museum-laboratory, a museum-factory, a storytelling museum.
The exhibition design of the Italian Design Museum, curated by Marco Sammicheli, wants to show a large and composite collection through display solutions that evoke the world of production in a cartesian spatial setup.
The project is structured through a system of orthogonal axes that shape the two architectures of opening and closing the space, and through a grid layout in which the "exhibition islands" are arranged.
In this Euclidean space, made of lines, surfaces, mechanical connections and clamps, some glitches interrupt its rhythm; they are volumes that enclose groups of objects, arranged on surfaces with different textures and colors, to evoke their original disposition.
The exhibition system, with its focus on interiors, interactions and thematic exploration, aims to offer visitors a path of discovery and cultural acquisition, seeking to surprise them and suggesting relationships among the objects on display.
